Polar Shifts 2012 - The Literal Meaning Explained

In the 2012 Doomsday theories, the polar shifts 2012 is referred by scientists as "geomagnetic reversal" or the shifting of the Earth's magnetic fields. But there is another theory about the polar shifts 2012 that is different, although a bit similar, to the geomagnetic reversal. Scientists call this the cataclysmic pole shift hypothesis.

What is Cataclysmic Pole Shift Hypothesis?

The literal meaning of polar shifts 2012 is the shifting of the two true poles--the true North Pole and the true South Pole. Please note that there are two North Poles--one is the geographic North Pole, also called true North Pole, and the magnetic North Pole. South Pole also has its geographic or true South Pole and its magnetic South Pole.

What concerns the polar shifts 2012 are the true poles.

Polar shifting is the physical change in the angle to which the Earth rotates.

As you know, our Earth is rotating in a tilted axis. But theorists argue that millions of years ago, our Earth is rotating in a straight vertical axis. Our tilted axis today is the proof that the Earth's axis is indeed changing or has changed.

Possible Causes of Polar Shifts

At least two scientists, Hugh Auchincloss Brown and Albert Einstein, said that the polar shifts 2012 would be caused by the melting of ice caps at the poles. They say this event will cause imbalance of the Earth, which will also change the Earth's axis and rotation.

Charles Hapgood, on the other hand, supported Einstein and Brown's melting of ice cap claim. But he later argued that melting of ice caps is not enough to bring about a complete or at least an obvious polar shift. Instead, Hapgood said that the Earth's crust and mantle`s movement causes the regular shifting of the poles. It's because the layer that separates the core and the crust, which is the mantle, makes the crust flexible to move. He said that the Earth shifts every about 5,000 years after about 30,000 years of no polar shifting.

But another theorist, Immanuel Velikovsky has another idea. According to him, polar shifts 2012 may happen when a planet approaches close enough to the Earth. He argued that this event will cause radical changes in the Earth's rotation and axis. Velikovsky furthered that this will also cause major disruptions like huge tidal waves and deadly earthquakes. Although this polar shifts 2012 theory is supported by historical records, the scientific community never accepted his claims and instead ridiculed his ideas.

2012 Possibilities

So, what's the possibility of 2012 Doomsday based on these literal meanings of polar shifts 2012? According to experts, in 2012, there might be a major alignment of heavenly bodies. The Planet X might come closer to the Earth. All these might cause polar shifting and it could be a radical and fast polar shifting. If so, the worst case scenarios would be huge tsunamis, high-magnitude earthquakes, major volcanic eruptions, super typhoons--in short, a major catastrophe.

These are only possibilities, though. The theories could be wrong but they could be right. 2012 Contact will help you separate the truths from the facts from the author's own research. Aside from knowing the truth, this book will help you be prepared for the worst possibilities in 2012. Whether 2012 Doomsday will happen or not, it's still wiser and safer to believe it will than ignore the possibilities.
